Wedding Photography - Why it has Value

In this post, I will continue to answer the question, why is wedding photography so damn expensive? We will be looking at the long-term value of quality wedding photography and why I believe the money used towards photography is an investment.

It is not unreasonable to say wedding photos will outlast the marriage, and I don't mean divorce. My grandparents, on both sides of my family, had marriages that lasted for life. So while they are sadly no longer with us, their wedding photos are. In fact, I remember looking at those photos as a little kid, and I will never forget how incredible and mind-blowing it was to see grandma and grandpa in their 20's. It was truly like stepping into a time machine.

My kids now have the good fortune of being able to look at three generations of wedding photos. First, they can see their great grandparents on their wedding day, then look at grandma and grandpa on their wedding day. Finally, they can (and often do) look at their parents on their wedding day.

I was actually surprised at how important our wedding photos are for my children. My daughter will regularly open our wedding album to look at the pictures ask questions about why daddy was thinner or why grandpa has less hair now. And not a day goes by where the kids don't look at the wedding photo we have in a frame on our fireplace.
